The factory has been established as DA-TA (Demir Araba – Tahta Araba, i.e. Iron Vehicle Wooden Vehicle) in 1914 in Adapazarı. It has been purchased and started pruduction by Turkish Agricultural Hardware Institution in 1944 with the name Sakarya Alat-ı Ziraiye (SAZ).
The factory produced horse vehicle, churn, beehive and wooden threshing machine until 1962. At the same time it has also poduced and supplied electricity to Sakarya with its own thermoelectric power plant until the same year. In 1962 it has started importing Ford tractors and gave aftersales service for them.
By 1968, the factory started manufacturing Ford tractors and achieved 65% domestic components rate in production. Later, in 1979, they started producing Austrian Steyr tractors under a similar agreement.
Basak Tractor is manufacturing tractors in Sakarya factory in a land area of 178.000 m2 with a closed area of 35.000 m2. The annual production capacity is 10.000 units with the capability of manufacturing its own engine, gearbox and hydraulic components.
Basak Tractor is at turkish farmers’ service with a range of 20 different models on 2wD and 4wD feature in various segments. Basak Tractor is manufacturing its own design tractors with low fuel consumption and low operating cost.
Basak Tractor is recently reorganised under Sanko group umbrella by providing wide-spread sales and aftersales organisation with competitive and economical spare parts stock.
