In England, on March 19th, 1899, Charles Cheers Wakefield has founded a small enterprise, C.C. Wakefield & Co. for production of oils and lubricants. After 10 years, he mixed mineral and castor oils and received a new product, which he later named Castrol. This is the history of origination of brand-name Castrol, which today, is identified as the highest quality oil.
Castrol’s reputation was built up through numerous achievements and victories. Cars, using Castrol oil, had broken World records 23 times! The most distinguished event was the speed record of Andy Green, from October 15th, 1997. Green was the first person to break the sound barrier on land and reached 763.035 mph (1227.99 km/h), the first supersonic record, with his racing car, Trust SSC.
