MasterCraft was founded in 1968 when it built its first ski boat in a two-stall horse barn on a farm in Maryville, Tennessee. Disappointed by the large wakes and pull of other ski boats, MasterCraft builders designed a hull for the smallest wake in the industry–smooth and low at slalom and jump speeds and well-defined at trick speeds.
Fast-forward to the invention of the wakeboard, which spurred the towboat industry’s most revolutionary sport to date. MasterCraft quickly met the needs of the rising sport of wakeboarding by engineering the XStar, a perfected design for performance and power. And when wakesurfing took the industry by storm, MasterCraft was the very first brand with integrated surf technology onboard.
