Magirus

The best firefighting vehicles are built by fire-fighters. This fact was known to Conrad Dietrich Magirus, fire-fighter by passion, visionary and founder of our company 150 years ago. In keeping with this tradition, today Magirus builds the most modern and most reliable fire-fighting vehicles, ladders, pumps and fire pumps. And today many employees at Magirus are trained comrade fire-fighters who know exactly what's needed on the job.

For over 150 years now Magirus has been making fire-fighters' lives easier and their work safer. In 1870 Ulm fire-fighter Conrad Dietrich Magirus knew only one goal: Making life safer for himself and his comrades and making it easier to respond to emergencies. He developed the "Ulm Ladder", a two-wheeled extension ladder with a climbing height of up to 14 meters. The ladder is a real revolution. For the first time a free-standing ladder can be climbed and can be moved when extended. This technological revolution earns the Gold Medal at the Vienna World's Fair and begins to conquer the international scene. Today at Magirus fire brigades find a comprehensive range of first-class, reliable fire-fighting vehicles, turntable ladders, rescue vehicles and equipment vehicles, special solutions, pumps and fire pumps.

Magirus is one of the largest manufacturers of fire fighting equipment. Its fire trucks are primarily based upon chassis and engines from Iveco, but occasionally also uses platforms from other truck manufacturers.
